AquaTerra Gains ISO 17020 Accreditation

October 31, 2008

Aberdeen based AquaTerra, a leading supplier of work at height and rope access related services, has achieved accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) for its non destructive testing (NDT) inspection services. The accreditation is to BS EN ISO/EIC 17020: 1998 as a Type C Inspection Body. UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of the accredited companies. AquaTerra clients currently include oil operators, drilling organizations and major contractor companies and the company plans significant growth following the UKAS accreditation.

AquaTerra specialises in work at height and rope access related services including NDT/Inspection, maintenance and construction services; work at height and rescue training; and work and rescue equipment supply. As well as providing comprehensive services both offshore and onshore for the oil and gas industry, AquaTerra clients also include those in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power generation, marine, renewable energy, communications and civil engineering sectors.

Pete Robinson, Managing Director at AquaTerra says, "UKAS accreditation represents a significant investment in AquaTerra and in our NDT/Inspection services. The accreditation process is a stringent assessment against internationally recognised standards that demonstrates our personnel's competence, high standards of reporting and management of inspection activities. For our clients, it is tangible evidence of our commitment to continuous improvement. This reinforces our capabilities in the NDT/Inspection sector and opens up significant new opportunities for AquaTerra in the coming months. We are already discussing a further two contracts as a direct result of accreditation."

The ability for clients to distinguish between a proven and competent supplier allows them to make an informed choice. UKAS accreditation provides a platform for a planned growth phase for AquaTerra.

AquaTerra's commitment to quality service is also underpinned by a suite of accreditations such as BSEN ISO9001: 2000 (BSI) and FPAL and membership of trade bodies including the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing and Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (operator and trainer – full membership).
